WINCHESTER, Virginia -- Ferrum College's football team opened Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play against Shenandoah University this afternoon on the road, falling 20-0 at Shentel Stadium.

THE BASICS
Steven Hugney's 25-yard run up the middle at 13:14 put Shenandoah out in front 7-0 less than two minutes into the game. Hugney's two-yard scoring strike to Caleb Reedy made it a 14-0 game just before halftime.
Hugney extended Shenandoah's lead to 20-0 early in the fourth quarter when he went up the middle for 10 yards and his second score of the afternoon.

Ferrum had a promising scoring opportunity late in the game when
Avion Smith picked off Hugney, giving Ferrum the ball at the Shenandoah 15 yard line. A fumble three plays later at the five yard line was recovered by SU's Ahvyon Boothe and the Hornets were able to run out the clock.
