FERRUM, Virginia -- The Ferrum College women's basketball team was victorious against Averett University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action, winning 80-75 tonight at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Averett jumped out to a 4-0 lead early on, but Ferrum battled back to make it an 11-9 game on a pair of
Erin Harden free throws at 2:24. The Cougars extended the lead to 22-14 by the end of the first quarter.
The Panthers would provide an emphatic response in the second quarter by way of a
Trina Lewis layup at the 2:47 mark, converting on a
Kayleigh Shreffler assist, which would kickstart the Panthers and result in a 48-42 Panthers lead at the break.
Ferrum outscored Averett 17-9 in the third, opening a 14-point lead at 65-51 on
Hannah Huffman's two free throws at 0:16 left in the quarter. Averett battled back in the fourth, three times getting the lead down to two points. Ferrum answered each run and was able to hang on for the ODAC win. Cabiness was money at the free throw line down the stretch to help seal the win.
