Maroons Top Ferrum Women in ODAC Play

FERRUM, Virginia -- Sayre Brandstatter had a game-high 21 points on 8-14 shooting to lead Roanoke College to a 75-33 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball road win over Ferrum College tonight at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
The game was tied 7-7 two and half minutes in before Roanoke used a 7-0 spurt to grab a 14-7 lead at the 5:11 mark. Ingrid Melo sank a pair of free throws to extend the Maroons' lead to 23-11 after one quarter.

An 8-0 Roanoke run to open the second pushed the lead to 31-11 and the Maroons eventually built a 44-15 lead at the break. Roanoke would go on to lead by as many as 46 points on Lauren Keel's three-pointer from the left side with 4:50 left in the fourth quarter.

1000-POINT CLUB
Ferrum's Kayla Cabiness scored four points tonight to put her over the 1000-point mark for her career. Cabiness now has 1001 career points and is the 22nd player in program history to score 1000 career points.
