SALEM, Virginia -- The Ferrum College volleyball team closed out the 2020 Maroon Classic with two matches, one in the morning and one this afternoon, falling 3-1 to North Carolina Wesleyan College and 3-0 to Methodist University. Both matches were contested inside host Roanoke College's Cregger Center.

THE BASICS
Ferrum took the opening set against N.C. Wesleyan in the morning game, then dropped the next three sets to fall 3-1. The Panthers took a one point lead 27-26 after an error by the Bishops and then a Sami Kircher kill and error gave them the game winning point. Ferrum trailed in the third set 24-17 before scoring seven straight points to get within in two, before a Corrina Hall kill got the game winning point. N.C. Wesleyan controlled the second and fourth sets to take the match

In the second match of the day with Methodist, the Monarchs swept Ferrum in three sets to wi 3-0. In the third set, with all things tied at 16-16, Methodist outscored the Panthers 9-2, to finish the sweep. For her efforts in the four matches at the Maroon Classic, Ferrum sophomore Taylor Joyner was named to the All-Tournament Team.
