Ferrum Takes Two in Volleyball

MISENHEIMER, North Carolina -- Ferrum College won a pair of volleyball matches this afternoon on the road, beating Carolina University 3-1 and Pfeiffer University 3-1 in a tri-meet held at Pfeiffer's Merner Gym.

FERRUM vs. CAROLINA
Taylor Joyner had 20 kills and 11 digs in Ferrum's first match of the day, while Shelby Waltrip's stat line included 13 kills, 24 assists and 10 digs.

Giulia La Longa had an impressive 26 kills and nine digs for Carolina, and Kamra King had 32 assists.

FERRUM vs. PFEIFFER
Joyner add another 11 kills and 13 digs in the win over the Falcons, and Waltrip had 20 assists and 10 digs. Waltrip had teo kills and a service ace to account for three of Ferrum's final points in the fourth and final set. Makaila Veney closed the match 11 kills, while Saryn Pennell had seven kills and Savanna Walker had 19 digs.

Mattie Hinson  had 11 kills for Pfeiffer, while Madison Honeycutt had 10 kills and Kylee Mayberry had 27 assists.

Coach Shelbylynn' Adair's team will back in action Wednesday, September 21, at Bridgewater College. The match opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference play for the Panthers and is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start in Bridgewater, Virginia.
