Tigers Hand Ferrum ODAC Football Loss

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football contest this afternoon on the road to Hampden-Sydney College, falling 48-10 at Lewis C. Everett Stadium.

THE BASICS
Marquise Woodruff gave Ferrum a 7-0 lead at 8:28 of the first quarter when he hauled in a 29-yard scoring strike from Braxton Hughes and Seth Deaton added the extra point.

Hampden-Sydney's Melik Frost tied the game at 7-7 with a one-yard run five minutes later. Deaton then split the uprights from 31 yards out to put the Panthers back on top 10-7 at 11:54 of the second quarter.

It was all Tigers after that as the home team rolled up over 500 yards in total offense on the day. Mason Cunningham made a pair of second-quarter touchdown receptions from Andrew Puccinelli at 10:30 and 1:33 to end the first half with the Tigers out in front 21-10.

Joseph Gonzales took the third quarter opening kickoff back 91 yards for a score, the Puccinelli hit Brandon Bowling and Austin Hernandez with touchdown passes from 29 and three yards, respectively, at the 10:14 and 2:21 marks of the third quarter. Frost would close out scoring when he found the end zone again, this time from a yard out, to open the fourth quarter.
