ROANOKE, Virginia -- Ferrum College built an eight-point lead early in the fourth quarter, then hung on for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over Hollins University tonight on the road at Main Gymnasium.

THE BASICS
The two teams played tight through the first half, with Holllins leading 15-14 after one quarter and Ferrum taking a 28-25 edge into the break.
Kayla Cabiness sank a pair of free throws to close out the third quarter with Ferrum on top 39-33. The Panthers extended the lead to eight points, the largest margin of the game, when
Trina Lewis' jumper made it 41-33 at the 9:12 mark of the fourth quarter.
Ariana Gutierrez made a layup for Hollins with 10 seconds left to cut the lead to 48-45. Ferrum's
Taryn Blankenship was fouled on the next possession and sank one of two free throw attempts to make it a 49-45 game with seven seconds left in regulation. Missy Hazard then drilled a three-pointer from the right side for Hollins with no time left for the final 49-48 score.
