Taryn Blankenship and
Kayla Cabiness had 17 points each to lead Ferrum College to an 59-42 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over Virginia Wesleyan University this afternoon at Jane P. Batten Student Center.

THE BASICS
Blankenship knocked down a pair of free throws to close the first period with Ferrum on top 11-8.
Cabiness hit two free throws,
Erin Harden converted a fast break layup, then Blankenship made a layup, all in the first 1:14 of the second quarter to extend Ferrum's lead to 15-8. Blankenship's layup with 28 seconds left in the quarter made it a 28-20 game at the break.
Blankenship made one of two free throws at 3:20 of the third quarter to give the Panthers a 14-point lead at 39-25. Maesyn Blaylock hit a pair of free throws for Virginia Wesleyan to trim the score to 41-33 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Panthers expanded the lead to 19 points twice, on
Allyson Cassell's layup at 3:14 to make it 56-37, then again on Cabiness' fast break jumper with 35 seconds left in the game to make it 59-40.
