RECORDS
Ferrum (6-5)
Salem (5-3)
THE BASICS
Salem grabbed the early 5-2 lead, only to see Ferrum use a 10-2 run to grab a 12-7 lead on
Kayla Cabiness' jumper in the paint mid-way through the first quarter. A
Taryn Blankenship jumper made it a 20-13 just under the three minute mark of the first, and the Panthers eventually closed out the quarter on top, 25-20. Following a tight second quarter, Ferrum took a 47-44 lead into the break.
Ferrum opened the third quarter with an 11-0 run that widened the gap to 58-44, then eventually made in a 16-point game at 62-46 on a layup by Lewis at the 5:07 mark. Lewis would later in the quarter hit another jumper in the paint that would give Ferrum its largest lead of the game, 68-51, with 2:20 left in the third.
The Panthers then took a 68-59 lead into the fourth quarter. The two teams played neck and neck down the stretch, but Ferrum answered every Salem basket with a key bucket at the other end of the floor.
Allyson Cassell scored Ferrum's final five points of the game, with a three-pointer at 2:31 and a layup with 53 seconds left in regulation.
