FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College women's basketball team fell at home tonight in the final non-conference game of the season to Meredith College 56-44 in Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Meredith jumped out to an early 4-0,
Asya Williams jumper and
Kayla Cabiness's three-pointer cut the Avenging Angels lead to 7-5 with 5:01 to play in the first quarter.
Trina Lewis knocked down a pair of free throws to tie the game at 7-7, Meredith closed out the quarter out on a 7-2 run to take a 14-9 after one quarter of play.
The Avenging Angels opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 20-9 with 7:31 left in the half. Over the next three minutes
Erin Harden hit a layup and Cabiness added a three-pointer and two free throws, cutting the lead to 22-16. The Avenging Angels held a 27-19 advantage at heading into halftime.
A 7-2 run to open the second half for Meredith increased their lead to 34-21 with just under seven minutes to play in the third quarter. Lewis hit back to back jumpers following a turnover, to bring the lead under 10, 34-25. Meredith took a 39-29 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
With 6:52 to play in the fourth quarter, the Avenging Angels extended the lead to 45-33. The Panthers 8-2 cut the lead to six, 47-41 with two and half minutes to go in the game. Meredith closed the game out, going 9-10 from the free throw line.
