LYNCHBURG, Virginia -- The Ferrum College women's basketball team dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest to Randolph College 49-42 in Giles Gymnasium this afternoon.

THE BASICS
Randolph used a huge 22 first quarter points in route of this afternoons win. Kylie Stark scored five of the WildCats first seven points to open up the game.
Trina Lewis hit a jumper to give Ferrum their first points of the quarter and stop the run. Nadia West's converted a three-point play with one second remaining in the quarter to cap a 13-4 run.
Ferrum answered back in the second quarter, outscoring Randolph 12-5 to cut the lead to 27-20 at the half. Both teams were strong defensively, holding the other to shooting under 25% from the field.
DeMeisha Canada and
Kayleigh Shreffler hit a pair of free throws each and
Aisha Martin hit two three-pointers to help cut the lead.
The third and fourth was a back and forth effort, neither team able to take a strong advantage and outscore the other. Ferrum won the third 11-10 and Randolph did enough, 12-11 to hold on for the win at home.
