FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College trailed 8-3 late in the second quarter, then scored 14 straight goals to post a 17-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's lacrosse win over Averett University during Senior Night at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Tommy Jackson got Ferrum on the board first with an unassisted goal 1:25 into the game. The two teams traded goals over the next few minutes, with Jackson and
Jacob Carroll scoring a goal each en route to a 3-3 deadlock. Averett then used a 5-0 run to grab an 8-3 lead at 3:43 of the second quarter.
Aric Lawrence's goal with 38 seconds left in the first half made it an 8-4 game and started the Panthers' big run.
Jacob Carroll started the third quarter off with a pair of goals, followed by Jackson and
Adam Brooks each scoring one. Then Carroll, Jackson and
Jon Straka each found the back of the net to maker it an 11-8 game. Lawrence and
Terrance Scales closed the third quarter with a goal each and Ferrum carried a 13-8 lead into the fourth.
Nathan Piggott opened the final quarter with a goal, then
Michael Paolicelli added a goal and Jackson notched two for the largest lead of the game at 17-8 with 9:59 showing on the clock. Nick Baiers scored the final goal of the game for the Cougars with 2:21 left to play.
