WHEATON, Illinois -- Ferrum College had two finalists to close out the 2024 Pete Willson Invitational, held the past two days at Wheaton Colege's King Arena. The Panthers placed eighth in a field of 32 teams and took home two individual titles.Â

THE BASICS
Ferrum's
Adrian Samano (125 pounds) and
Rayshawn Dixon (285) both began the day in the semifinals and both advanced to the title matches, where they faced stiff competition.
Samano beat top-seeded Jayden Cardenas of SUNY Cortland 11-5 in the semifinals, then took down #14 Mac Cafurello of Roanoke College 2-1 in the title match. Today's title was Samano's second this season, including his championship at the Cougar Open November 12 in Danville, Virginia.
Dixon opened the day with a medical forfeit in the semifinals, then faced top-seeded and #1-ranked Donovan King of Olivet College in the finals. Dixon secured a takedown early in the first period, then recorded a pin over King at the 1:31 mark of the match to earn his fourth individual crown this season. Dixon also won titles at the Mount Union Invitational November 4 in Alliance, Ohio, the Cougar Open and the Citrus Open January 27 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
