THE BASICS
Ferrum led early with baskets by Alfredo Abel-Rivera, Ahmil Flowers, Charles Tart III and Kyree Ellis, and a three-pointer by Marcus Willis III. Ellis' jumper made it a 14-8 Panther lead at 11:35 of the first half.

Virginia Wesleyan responded with a 9-2 run over the next three minutes to grab a 17-16 lead on Khai Seargeant's fast break three-pointer at the 8:19 mark. The Panthers surged back in front 20-17 on buckets by Abel-Rivera and Willis, but an 8-4 run by VWU closed out the first half with Marlins on top 29-24.

Virginia Wesleyan used an 11-5 spurt to open the second half, with T.J. East's jumper in the paint at 14:28 making it a 40-29 game.
