GREENSBORO, North Carolina - The Ferrum College Women's Basketball team earned a thrilling 60-57 road victory over Guilford College on Wednesday night, handing the Quakers their first loss of the season. With the win, Ferrum improves to 2-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and 4-1 overall.
The game was a hard-fought battle throughout, with both teams exchanging leads. Junior
Allyson Cassell delivered a clutch performance, leading all scorers with 16 points and sinking two critical free throws with 17 seconds left to secure the win for the Panthers.

THE BASICS
Ferrum started slow, trailing by 9 points at the end of the first quarter. However, the Panthers responded in the second quarter, scoring the first 6 points to cut the Quakers lead to just 3. Both teams exchanged baskets for the remainder of the half, and Ferrum went into the break trailing by only 2 points.
The Panthers tied the game with seven minutes remaining in the third quarter thanks to a layup from Junior
Erin Harden. One minute later, Harden scored again giving the Panthers a lead that they would not relinquish.
With 55 seconds remaining in the game, Guilford tied the score. However, Junior
Taryn Blankenship scored an and-one coming out of a Ferrum timeout to put the Panthers ahead by three. Cassell's clutch free throws in the final seconds secured the victory for Ferrum.
