FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's women's basketball team won its third straight game with today's 60-52 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Bridgewater College at Swartz Gym.

Prior to the game, the Panthers celebrated Senior Day for graduating players Kayla Cabiness, Brogan Dudley and Trina Lewis.

THE BASICS
The two teams played evenly in the first quarter, with Lewis knocking down a pair of shots, Cabiness hitting a three-pointer and Taryn Blankenship making three free throw to give Ferrum a 12-10 lead after one.

Allessandria Thomas' jumper at 3:50 of the second quarter extended Ferrum's lead to eight points, 24-16. The Eagles rallied with a pair of baskets to cut it to 24-20, but a layup by Lewis at 0:40 and a layup by Allyson Cassell with no time left on the clock made it a 28-22 Panther lead at the break.

Bridgewater's Aylin Humpherys knocked down a three-pointer at 7:17 of the third quarter to cut Ferrum's lead to 30-28. Ferrum responded with five straight points on two Thomas free throws and an Erin Hardin three-pointer to make it a 38-28 lead. Cassell hit a jumper in the waning seconds of the third, while being fouled, and converted the three-point play to put Ferrum in front 44-37 with 12 seconds left in the third. BC's Jay Garcia hit a jumper in the paint to close out the third with the score 44-39 in favor of Ferrum.

Cabiness had jumper at 7:28 of the fourth quarter and a pair of free throws at 6:46 to extend the lead to 48-41. The Eagles' Riley Corcoran hit a trey at 5:48 cut the lead to 49-47, only to see Cabiness hit a jumper a minute and a half later to make it a 53-47 game.

Humpherys hit a three with 1:49 left to play to trim Ferrum's lead to 55-52, but Lewis made one of two free throws for the Panthers. Erin Hardin then made two more free throws with 50 seconds left on the clock to push Ferrum's lead to 58-52. Lewis would add two more from the free throw line with 34 seconds left in regulation to seal the ODAC win.
