FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College's women's basketball team picked up its fourth consecutive win tonight at home, beating Eastern Mennonite University 50-40 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS
Eastern Mennonite held the Panthers to just six first-quarter points, en route to a 13-6 lead after one quarter. Ferrum got within three points three times in the second quarter, including
Allyson Cassell's jumper at 1:54 to cut it to 23-20. The Eagles closed out the quarter with a three-pointer from Kayla Surles at 0:45, then Ferrum's
Trina Lewis made a layup with five seconds left to make it a 27-22 game at the break.
Ferrum came alive in the third quarter, using an 8-0 run to erase a 29-24 deficit and take a 32-29 lead at 3:01 following a pair of
Kayla Cabiness jumpers.
The Panthers closed out the third in front 34-33. Ferrum opened the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run, fueled by jumpers from
Taryn Blankenship, Cassell,
Trina Lewis and Cabiness, plus a free throw from Lewis to take a 43-36 lead. Ferrum's largest lead came with 18 seconds left in the game when Blankenship hit a jumper to make it a 50-38 game.
