Dixon Places 5th at NCAA Tournament

2024 NCAA Div. III Wrestling Championships

LaCROSSE, Wisconsin -- Ferrum College's Rayshawn Dixon closed out action at the 2024 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships today, being hosted by University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse at the La Crosse Center.

THE BASICS
Dixon went 1-2 today and placed fifth at 285 pounds to become Ferrum's sixth All-American in wrestling. He opened the day with a 2-1 overtime loss to #3 seed Tyler Kim of Augsburg University, then lost 6-1 to top-seeded Carl DiGiorgio of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in the consolation semifinals.

In his fifth place match, Dixon scored a reversal in overtime to beat Dylan Waller of Elizabethtown College, 3-2. This is Dixon's second NCAA Tournament appearance and his first All-America finish. He posted a stellar 34-2 record this season and crossed the 100-win threshold at the NCAA Tournament..

SEASON FINALE
The NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships closed out the 2023-24 season for Coach Logan Meister's team. Ferrum finished with a winning dual meet record (6-5), qualified two wrestlers for the NCAA Tournament and had one All-American.
