Ferrum Hands Royals Loss

Harrisonburg, Virginia – Ferrum College women's basketball team drove up I-81 this afternoon and handed Eastern Mennonite University a home loss, 62-49. Ferrum bolted out to a 15-5 first quarter lead and never looked back. Junior Allyson Cassell led the Panthers with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

THE BASICS
Ferrum built the lead to 21 points in the 4th quarter on a jumper by Junior Taryn Blankenship to make it 54-33.  The Royals had some fight left in them and they were able to cut it to 11 twice before a final layup by Sophomore Zy'Breayziah Alexander to seal the final score.  The Panthers got balanced scoring as they have for most of the season. Blankenship scored 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Graduate student Aisha Martin and Freshman Maslyn Mosbacher each chipped in 9 points.

Ferrum dominated the Royals on the boards 48 – 32 resulting in 10 second chance points for the Panthers. When Ferrum was able to get to the free throw line they were accurate, hitting 9 of 11.
