Ferrum Women Fall at Virginia Union

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's basketball team lost tonight on the road to Virginia Union University, falling 63-55 in non-conference play at Barco-Stevens Hall.

THE BASICS
Aleksandra Kubiak had four points in the first half for Ferrum on a jumper and two free throws. The Panthers struggled from long distance in the first two quarters, going a combined 1-12 from behind the arc. 

Allyson Cassell had a layup and two free throws early in the third quarter to help Ferrum trim the lead. Back-to-back-to-back layups by Zy'Breayziah Alexander, Maslyn Mosbacher and a Dezariyah Clark cut the lead to 40-32 with 3:03 left in the third. Alexander had a layup and a free throw to close the third and make it a 45-39 game. 

Mosbacher hit a three-pointer from the left side off a wraparound pass from Erin Harden to trim the lead to 57-52 with less than two minutes left in regulation. Virginia Union held on down the stretch for the first win of the season.

UP NEXT
Coach Bryan Harvey's team will be back in action Tuesday, November 25, at home against Chowan University. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. at Swartz Gym. The game will be the first half of a Conference Carolinas doubleheader, with the men's game to follow at 7:00 p.m.
