RICHMOND, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's basketball team lost tonight on the road to Virginia Union University, falling 63-55 in non-conference play at Barco-Stevens Hall.

THE BASICS
Aleksandra Kubiak had four points in the first half for Ferrum on a jumper and two free throws. The Panthers struggled from long distance in the first two quarters, going a combined 1-12 from behind the arc.
Allyson Cassell had a layup and two free throws early in the third quarter to help Ferrum trim the lead. Back-to-back-to-back layups by
Zy'Breayziah Alexander,
Maslyn Mosbacher and a
Dezariyah Clark cut the lead to 40-32 with 3:03 left in the third. Alexander had a layup and a free throw to close the third and make it a 45-39 game.
Mosbacher hit a three-pointer from the left side off a wraparound pass from
Erin Harden to trim the lead to 57-52 with less than two minutes left in regulation. Virginia Union held on down the stretch for the first win of the season.
