MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- Ferrum College needed a pair of overtime periods to pull out a Conference Carolinas road win over Chowan University, winning 40-37 this afternoon at Jim Garrison Stadium.

THE BASICS
Eli Foutz's two-yard touchdown pass to
Tyrik Bryant in the second overtime was the difference for Ferrum. For Bryant, it was his third touchdown of the day, a new school record for single-game touchdown receptions. He also scored on a 24-yard reception in the first quarter and a 21-yard catch in the second quarter.Â
Jon Davis' 20-yard field goal with no time left in the second quarter put Ferrum on top 17-14 at halftime.
Omarza Gray hauled in a pass from Foutz a minute and a half into the third quarter and took it 59 yards to the house to extend Ferrum's lead to 24-14.
Chowan scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 28-24 lead, but Ferrum's
Jycen Anciso's five-yard touchdown run with 1:53 left in the fourth quarter put Ferrum back on top 31-28. Chowan rallied with a 63-yard drive that stalled at the Ferrum nine yard like and Jack Beylo converted a field goal to tie the game at 31-31 and send it into overtime.
In the first overtime, Davis split the uprights from 20 yards out, but Beylo matched the effort with a field goal from 38 yards out for Chowan. Beylo then connected on another field goal, his third of the day, to open the second overtime and put the Hawks on top 37-34. The Panthers then drove to the Chowan 12 yard line, with Foutz hitting Bryant with a bullet for a touchdown to end the game.

Coach Kevin Sherman's team will close out the season Saturday, November 15, at home against Concord University. The non-conference game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff at W.B. Adams Stadium and will be preceded by a Senior Day ceremony for Ferrum's graduating players.Â
