THE BASICS
The Panthers led early on and were on top by 10 points, 53-43, at the break before holding on for the league road win. Ferrum led 6-5 early on baskets by Abdulh Diaby, Gerren Jones and Amaris Hunt. Ferrum shot 53% from the floor in the first half, including almost 43% from behind the three-point line, was a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line and out-rebounded the Trojans 23-9.

A layup and free throw by Mount Olive to open the second half trimmed the lead to seven, 53-46. Ferrum responded with a driving layup by Diaby and three free throws from Jones to make it a 58-46 lead. A few minutes later the Panthers extended the lead to 66-50 when Jones drilled a three-pointer.

Mount Olive would not go quietly in front of its home crowd, using an 11-1 run to get the lead down to 67-61 with 11:21 left in the half. Alfredo Abel-Rivera had two jumpers and a pair of free throws, while Jones knocked down a three-pointer and Ferrum led 76-61 with 8:11 left to play.

The Trojans battled back, getting to within three points when Jaevian Alston made a layup, was fouled and sank a free throw to get the lead down to 88-85 with 15 seconds left in regulation. Jones was then fouled on Ferrum's final trip down the floor, sinking a pair of free throws to seal the deal.
