JOHNSON CITY, Tennessee -- Ferrum College picked up a 5-0 baseball win over Ohio Wesleyan University today at TVA Credit Union Ballpark. The win gives Ferrum a sweep of the three-game non-conference series over the Owls, and puts the Panthers over .500 at 5-4 on the season.

THE BASICS
Carlos Castillo had an RBI double to left field in the first inning, stole third, then scored on a throwing error to spot Ferrum a 2-0 lead after one full inning.
Jorge Olivo had an RBI single in the third inning to up the Panthers' lead to 3-0, then
Kyle Markowitz had an RBI single that allowed Castillo to cross the plate in the fifth inning.
Shawn Baxter grounded into a double play in the eighth inning, with Markowitz scoring on the play for the final run of the game.

Carson Wetmore earned the win and is now 1-0 after pitching three innings and allowing just one hit, no runs and a walk, while striking out three Ohio Wesleyan batters. Castillo, Markowitz and
JJ Mulhern each had a pair of base hits for the Panthers today.

Eric Owens' team will be back on the field Tuesday, March 4, at Hampden-Sydney College. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. The Panthers will then be back at home Thursday, March 6, for a non-conference doubleheader with Wilson College, starting at 1:00 p.m.
