SALISBURY, N.C. -- Ferrum College will make its historic debut into the world of NCAA Division II sports with tonight's non-conference football game at Catawba College.
Ferrum announced in April 2024 that the College intended to reclassify from Division III to Division II, beginning in the Fall of 2025. College officials have worked since that time to prepare for this moment.Â
Ferrum left the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, and now competes in all sports in Conference Carolinas. The NCAA Division II league is comprised of 16 full members, as well as a handful of associate members for certain sports. Conference Carolinas sponsors 16 women's sports and 14 men's sports, including football being back for the first time in 51 years.
HISTORY
Today's non-conference football game at Catawba College is the first official contest for Ferrum as an NCAA Div. II institution. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Shuford Stadium.
