MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- Ferrum College's men's soccer team fell to Chowan University, 10-2, tonight in a Conference Carolinas road game at Hawks Field.

THE BASICS
Chowan drew first blood when Robbie Deighan put a shot into the lower right side of the Ferrum net just 3:14 into the game. Deighan then converted a penalty kick at the 36:34 mark to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead at the break.
Three and a half minutes into the second half, Fernando Hernandez scored off a pass from Tomas Alvarez. Deighan converted another penalty kick at the 54:31 mark, then Sean Jacobs scored with Clayton Verdin assisting on the goal in the 61st minute to make it a 5-0 game.
The Hawks picked up another goal at 64:00 when Shoma Fujikawa drove in to the right and drilled a shot into the left side of the Ferrum net for a 6-0 lead. Chowan's Andre Camargo scored off an assist from Verdin at 66:04, Thomas Mills scored unassisted in the 73rd minute, and Bryden Glick scored unassisted at 80:34 to make it a 9-0 game.
Carter Chaney broke up the shutout with an unassisted goal for Ferrum in the 84th minute, then
Kaspar Szikszai scored unassisted a minute and a half later to trim the lead to 9-2. Chowan's Diego Bustamante scored at 88:06 off a Braxton Carper pass for the final count.
