SALISBURY, N.C. – The Ferrum College women's lacrosse team opened their inaugural NCAA Division II season this afternoon on the road, falling 14-3 to Catawba College at Shuford Stadium.

THE BASICS
Catawba got on the board first when Madison Widecki scored with 3:44 to go in the first quarter. Ferrum quickly answered when
Maggie Cass converted a free position shot to knot the game at 1-1. The Indians scored three goals in the last minute to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter. Catawba built the lead to 11-1 at the break.
Ferrum showed resilience coming out of the break, scoring twice in the third quarter.
Lana Barkovic found the back of the net at the 11:00 mark, followed by
Alaia Beckwith scoring at 3:25 to pull the Panthers to 11-3. In goal,
Ashley Font played all 60 minutes, recording six saves. Barkovic led the Panthers in ground balls with four.
