Baseball Drops Game One in CC Series at Chowan

MURFREESBORO, N.C. -- Ferrum College got home runs from Hunter Carlson and Colin Kim in a 14-9 baseball loss to Chowan University this afternoon at Hawkins Field. Today's game was the first in a three-game Conference Carolinas series with the Hawks.

THE BASICS
Carlson had a three-run home run in the first inning to spot Ferrum the early lead. Chowan responded with four runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead, but Kim answered with a three-run bomb to left field in the third to put Ferrum back in front, 6-4.

The Panthers picked up two runs in the fifth inning, one on Kim's RBI double to center and the other on Gage Miller's RBI double down the left-field line, and one in the sixth on Garrett Pancione's RBI double to left-center to extend the lead to 9-4. The Hawks scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to trim the lead to 9-8, then tacked on six runs in the eighth and held on to complete the comeback.
