Ferrum Sweeps Barton with Walk Off in Game Two

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College swept a doubleheader against Barton College Saturday afternoon at Panther Field to secure its first Conference Carolinas sweep of the season. The Panthers won the opener 12-3 before taking the nightcap 9-8 in 10 innings.

GAME ONE
Ferrum took control early, scoring two runs in the first inning on a two-RBI double by Colin Kim. The Panthers then broke the game open with a seven-run third inning. Niko Papathanasiou drove in a run with a double, while CJ Kemmerer added a two-run single and JJ Tyree and Tyler Mason each recorded RBI hits to extend the lead to 9-0.

Barton responded with two runs in the fourth inning and another in the sixth, but Ferrum added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth when Hunter Carlson launched a three-run home run to seal the 12-3 victory.

GAME TWO
Ferrum jumped ahead with three runs in the second inning and added two more in the third to build a 5-1 lead. Matthew Graham drove in multiple runs during the early innings, while the Panthers extended their advantage to 8-3 after a two-run sixth inning.

Barton rallied late, scoring three runs in the seventh and two in the ninth to tie the game at 8-8 and force extra innings. After holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the top of the 10th, Ferrum secured the win in the bottom half when CJ Kemmerer doubled to put runners in scoring position and Graham delivered a walk-off RBI single to left field to score JJ Mulhern.
