ROCKY MOUNT, Va. -- Barton College edged Ferrum College, 4-3, in a tightly contested Conference Carolinas men's tennis match Saturday, March 14, at the Franklin County Rec Park.

THE BASICS
The match began with a competitive doubles session, where the teams split the three contests but Barton claimed the doubles point with a narrow win at No. 1. Nicola Bottelberghs and Fredrik Foss defeated Emanuel Ferreira and Tobi Teller 7-6 (7-4) to secure the early advantage for the Bulldogs.

Ferrum responded with victories at the other two doubles positions. Sebastian Ondas and Brian Karenzi earned a 6-2 win over Sean Maphosa and William Drake at No. 2, while Emilio Munguia and Omar Martinez claimed a 6-4 decision against Juliann Starland and Chapman Kinlaw at No. 3.

In singles play, Barton won four of the six matches to secure the team victory. Bottelberghs outlasted Ferreira in a three-set battle at No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4). Foss followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ondas at No. 2.

Ferrum picked up points from Tobi Teller and Brian Karenzi. Teller posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Diego Rodriguez at No. 3 singles, and Karenzi earned a 6-0, 7-5 win over Juliann Starland at No. 5.

Barton secured the deciding points with wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles. William Drake rallied past Emilio Munguia 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4, while Sean Maphosa defeated Gabriel Alvarez 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
