FLORENCE, S.C. -- Ferrum College traveled to Francis Marion University for a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, falling 10-0 in six innings in game one and 4-2 in game two at FMU Softball Stadium.

GAME ONE
Francis Marion took control early, erupting for six runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Jenna Walling. The Patriots added another run in the fourth before breaking the game open with three runs in the sixth to secure the run-rule victory.
Ferrum collected three hits in the contest, with Abby Bradberry, Carly Constantino, and Macie Bell each recording a single. The Panthers threatened in the third inning, loading the bases with two outs, but were unable to capitalize.
In the circle, Chloe Constantino took the loss after allowing six runs in the opening inning. Wynema Thomas provided relief, tossing 4.1 innings and allowing four runs.

GAME TWO
Ferrum dropped a closely contested second game, 4-2, after Francis Marion scored three runs in the second inning to take an early lead.
The Panthers answered in the third inning, capitalizing on Patriot errors to tie the game at 2-2. Carly Constantino delivered an RBI single, and Mirenda Shields added a sacrifice fly to bring Ferrum even.
Francis Marion regained the lead in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Jenna Walling, which proved to be the difference.
Ferrum threatened in the seventh inning with back-to-back singles from Zoey Snead and Emily Hopper, but the rally was cut short as the Patriots recorded the final outs.
Emily Wood turned in a strong performance in the circle despite taking the loss, allowing just one earned run over six innings.
