FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College hosted Mount Olive University in a Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader at VVK Field this afternoon. The Panthers fell 5-2 in the opener, then lost 9-0 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE
Mount Olive jumped on Ferrum in the third inning with a three-run rally, highlighted by Kaylee Cox's two-RBI single and aided by an error. The Patriots added two more runs in the sixth to take a commanding 5-0 lead. Ferrum rallied in the seventh with a pair of runs, driven by
Lexi Bennett and
Payton Evans, but it wasn't enough to overcome Mount Olive's pitching and timely hitting.Â
