Braves Take Two in Conference Carolinas Softball at Ferrum

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College hosted UNC Pembroke in a Conference Carolinas softball doubleheader this afternoon at Vickie Van Kleeck Field, dropping the opener 6-3 and the nightcap 20-8.

RECORDS
UNC Pembroke 27-15, 14-6 CC
Ferrum 9-27, 2-18 CC

GAME ONE
UNC Pembroke struck early with a solo home run from Kaitlynn Hunt in the first inning and added another run in the fourth on Chloe Locklear's solo shot to take a 2-0 lead. The Braves extended their advantage in the fifth inning, stringing together multiple hits to push three runs across the plate and extend the lead to 5-0.

Ferrum answered in the bottom half of the fifth with a three-run rally, highlighted by RBI hits from Samantha Smith, Riley Young, and Carly Constantino to cut the deficit to 5-3. However, UNC Pembroke added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single from Hunt and kept Ferrum off the board the rest of the way to secure the win.
