FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's
Brian Karenzi has been named Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Freshman of the Month, as announced on Friday, March 6.
A freshman from Kigali, Rwanda, Karenzi plays in the #5 singles and #3 doubles spots for the Panthers. He put together an outstanding month of tennis, including a 3-0 mark in singles and a 2-1 mark in doubles.
One of Karenzi's singles matches was a win over NCAA Division I opponent Gary Huang of Longwood University. And his win over Averett University's Alex Rudy in three sets clinched a dual match and gave Ferrum its first ever win over the Cougars.
For his efforts, Karenzi was also named Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Player of the Week on March 4.
Coach Jose Rincon's team will be back on court Monday, March 9, at home against Virginia State University in a non-conference match at Burrows Tennis Courts.Â
