Panthers Explode for 102 Points, Clinch Share of Conference Carolinas Title

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College delivered a dominant all-around performance, overwhelming Chowan University, 102-0, in a Conference Carolinas women's flag football matchup this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium. The victory secured Ferrum a share of the 2026 Conference Carolinas regular season title.

THE BASICS
Ferrum's balanced attack and stifling defensive pressure kept Chowan off the scoreboard for the entire contest. The Panthers wasted no time in asserting control, jumping out to a 13-0 lead in the opening quarter behind touchdown passes from Payson Shreeve to Macy Taylor and Samantha Pitzer, along with a rushing score from Day'ana Mackey.

The Panthers broke the game open in the second quarter with an explosive 53-point outburst. Shreeve orchestrated a relentless offensive attack, connecting for multiple touchdown passes to Breyana Kimmons, Jaden Hiers, and Karielle Turner, while adding a rushing score of her own. Ferrum's defense also contributed, highlighted by an interception return for a touchdown by Gracious Wise, helping build a commanding 66-0 halftime lead.

Ferrum continued its dominance in the third quarter, adding 22 more points. Shreeve threw touchdown passes to Hiers and Zy'Breayziah Alexander, while the defense forced a safety to extend the lead even further.

In the fourth quarter, the Panthers closed out the game with 14 additional points, including another touchdown connection to Hiers and another safety generated by the defense.

Shreeve led a historic offensive effort, completing 27-of-44 passes for 472 yards and 12 touchdowns without an interception, while also adding a rushing touchdown. Hiers turned in a standout performance with nine receptions for 138 yards and four touchdowns. Pitzer added two touchdown catches, while Taylor contributed 75 receiving yards and two scores. Kimmons also found the end zone, and Alexander recorded a touchdown reception in the win.

Defensively, Ferrum was just as dominant, totaling 10 sacks and four interceptions. Hiers led the pressure with five sacks, while Danilynn Bonilla added two. Wise, Kleiauna Riddick, Samantha Pitzer, and Anastasia Rogers each recorded interceptions, with Wise returning hers for a touchdown. The Panthers also forced multiple safeties, capping a complete team performance.
