THE BASICS
Ferrum grabbed the early advantage by winning the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. The tandem of
Emanuel Ferreira and
Tobi Teller earned a strong 6-2 win at the top flight, while
Sebastian Ondas and
Brian Karenzi matched that score at No. 2. King avoided the sweep with a win at No. 3 doubles, but the Panthers carried a 1-0 lead into singles play.
The match came down to a handful of tightly contested singles battles.
Sebastian Ondas picked up a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2, rallying after dropping a marathon second-set tiebreak to win 6-3, 6-7 (11-13), 6-2.
Brian Karenzi also secured a comeback win at No. 5, rebounding from a first-set loss to claim a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory.
King ultimately proved to be just strong enough, taking four of the six singles matches to clinch the league win. Several matches went the distance, including a three-set battle at No. 4 where
Emilio Munguia forced a decisive tiebreak before falling.
