THE BASICS
Mount Olive lived up to its undefeated conference record, starting the day with a clean sweep of the doubles matches. The Trojans' top pairing of Kristoffer Dalbak and Bram Poel set the pace with a 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot, allowing UMO to take a 1-0 lead into the singles portion of the afternoon.
The Trojans maintained their grip on the match during singles play, clinching the team victory early with straight-set wins at the No. 3, No. 5, and No. 4 positions. Despite the deficit, Ferrum's
Sebastian Ondas provided the highlight of the day at the No. 1 singles flight. In a grueling match that featured two tiebreakers and a marathon third-set super tiebreaker, Ondas outlasted Dalbak (7-6, 6-7, 13-11) to put the Panthers on the board.
While Mount Olive took the remaining matches in straight sets to improve to 11-0 in league play, Ondas' gritty performance at the top flight showcased Ferrum's resilience against the conference's top-seeded competition.
