FERRUM, Va. -- Head Men's Basketball Coach
Patrick Corrigan has stepped down from his position to accept a position with University of West Florida.
Corrigan spent the past four years as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Ferrum, accumulating a 59-48 career record (.551) as a head coach. Corrigan posted three straight 16+ win seasons. His 2025-26 team finished 16-11 overall and posted 14-6 record in Conference Carolinas, finishing third in the league's final standings.
Corrigan was named Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in Ferrum's first year in the league and as an NCAA Division II school. Ferrum's appearance in the Conference Carolinas Tournament was the fourth straight quarterfinal appearance, including three in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.Â
Corrigan had five players earn All-Conference during his four years, including first-team Conference Carolinas selection
Gerren Jones. Jones would go on to earn second team Academic All-America for the Panthers in 2025-26. Additionally, three of Corrigan's players have gone on to play professionally. He graduated 16 players in his four years at Ferrum.Â
"I am grateful for my time at Ferrum and all the people that worked relentlessly to help our program and our student-athletes achieve our goals," said Corrigan. "A special thank you to John Sutyak, Cleive Adams, and Dr. Mirta Martin for their belief in me and unwavering support for our program. To my assistants Garrett Dorfman,
Cole Morris, Josh Reeves, and Dan Milloy -- they sacrificed long hours to run our program, and recruit and develop our student-athletes to be able to compete at their potential and graduate with degrees. I could not have done it without them. Thank you to our players for trusting in me, for competing, and for the blood, sweat, and tears you poured into the program. I love you guys. Ferrum did for me as it has for so many people, gave me an opportunity to compete at what I love to do. Ferrum challenged me to be better coach and person. I am better for it and grateful for my time there. As always, Go Panthers!"
Corrigan will work at West Florida under Tanner Smith, who was named Head Men's Basketball Coach in April 2026. The Argonauts also announced in April 2026 a move from NCAA Division II to Division I, beginning in Fall 2026.Â
