BRISTOL, Tenn. -- Ferrum College split a Conference Carolinas baseball doubleheader at King University, falling 14-6 in the opener before bouncing back to claim a 2-0 shutout in the nightcap at King Baseball Field.

GAME ONE
King jumped out to a huge early lead and never looked back, scoring five runs in the first and added four more in the second to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Tommy Regan's three-run homer and Kale Richardson's solo shot highlighted King's offensive barrage, which featured 16 hits and 12 RBIs in the game.
Ferrum got on the board with a run in the first on an RBI groundout by
Garrett Pancione, and added two more in the third inning, including a run on a wild pitch. The Panthers scored another two in the fifth and a run in the seventh, but a comeback was not to be.
Garrett Sawyer took the loss after giving up nine runs over two innings, while Ben Hale earned the win for King, allowing five runs over six innings.
Tyler Mason led Ferrum with two hits and had three stolen bases, while
Colin Kim added a triple.

GAME TWO
Ferrum rebounded in the nightcap, a planned 7-inning game. The Panthers blanked King 2-0 behind a complete-game shutout from
Hunter Carlson. The Panthers broke through in the third inning when
JJ Mulhern doubled and
Smith Dickinson reached on a throwing error to score Ferrum's first run.
Tyler Mason followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
Carlson dominated, allowing just two hits over seven innings while striking out two and walking three. Ferrum's defense held strong, preventing any baserunners from scoring the rest of the way. Mason led the offensive effort with a 2-for-2 stat line, including a triple and an RBI, while Mulhern added the only other extra-base hit with a double.
