FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped its 2026 football home opener to Catawba College, falling 13-7 in non-conference action tonight at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS
Ferrum's
Jycen Anciso scored the Panthers' lone touchdown on a 39-yard pass from
Eli Foutz with 3:12 remaining in the second quarter.
Jon Davis added the extra point to tie the game at 7-7 heading into halftime.
Catawba opened the scoring with a 96-yard drive in the first quarter, capped by a six-yard touchdown pass from Mason Fortune to Henry Forrest with 4:55 remaining in the period.
The Indians regained the lead midway through the third quarter when Fortune connected with Mike Geter on a 42-yard touchdown pass with 5:05 left in the period. Catawba's extra-point attempt failed, leaving the Indians with a 13-7 advantage.
Ferrum had a chance to answer late in the third quarter after
Zavion Wilson intercepted Fortune and returned the ball 19 yards to the Catawba six-yard line. The Panthers, however, were stopped on fourth-and-one at the Catawba one-yard line.
Catawba threatened to extend its lead early in the fourth quarter, driving to the Ferrum eight-yard line, but its field-goal attempt was blocked by
Yul Campbell. Ferrum took over at its own 20-yard line following the block.
The Panthers mounted one final drive late in the fourth quarter, moving from their own 17-yard line to the Catawba 29. Ferrum reached the Catawba 20-yard line, but a fourth-down pass fell incomplete with 1:07 remaining, allowing the Indians to run out the clock.
