SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Ferrum College's women's soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit to tie the match early in the second half, but Converse University scored four times in the final 14 minutes to defeat the Panthers, 6-2, Saturday afternoon at Hayden Abney Fulp Field at Weisiger Stadium.

THE BASICS
Converse took a 2-0 lead in the opening 24 minutes before Ferrum answered with a pair of goals to even the match. Sierra Criner scored twice for the Valkyries, with her second goal coming in the 24th minute. Ferrum responded just over a minute later when
Breanna Herlihy scored in the 25th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Herlihy struck again in the 55th minute, scoring off an assist from
Summer Stevens, to pull the Panthers even at 2-2. Converse regained the lead in the 77th minute when Emily Vargas scored, then added three more goals in the final 14 minutes to secure the 6-2 victory.
Herlihy led Ferrum with five shots, including two on goal, while Stevens added five shots, two on goal, and an assist.
Natalie Dinh played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves.
