McCORMICK, S.C. -- The Ferrum College men's golf opened the 2026-27 season at the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational, held at Monticello Golf Club. The Panthers completed the event on the par-72, 7,032-yard course, finishing 18th overall with a three-round total of 908.

THE BASICS
USCA won the team title with an 830 three-round total, finishing 17 strokes ahead of North Georgia and Wingate, which tied for second at 847. Georgia College finished fourth at 848, while Erskine rounded out the top five at 849. USCA's Mitchell McNeill, Cameron Baez, Jan Sustek and Ian Williams tied for fifth individually at 209, while Newberry's Daymian Rij earned medalist honors with a three-round 206 (-10). Ferrum finished 18th at 908 (+44).

FERRUM NOTES
Jake Chavis led the Panthers with a tie for 71st in the 108-player field, carding a three-round 224 (+8). Wyatt Larson finished two strokes behind Chavis at 225 (+9), tying for 76th. Nicholas Messenger and Carson Iroler tied for 100th at 233 (+17), while Ethan Hahn finished 104th at 236 (+20).

Ferrum improved by 19 strokes, shooting 313 in the first round before posting a 294 in the second round. Chavis and Larson each posted a team-best 73 in the opening round, while Larson's second-round 71 was the Panthers' low individual round of the tournament.
