Ben Austin joined the Ferrum athletics staff as a volunteer assistant in August 2017 and was elevated to full-time assistant coach in August 2018. Austin played collegiate baseball at Wofford College from 2005-08 as an outfielder and pitcher. In 2007, he helped lead the team to a Southern Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Regional appearance, while tying the school record on the mound for wins in a season (11).

 

Austin earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Economics from Wofford College in 2008, a Master's degree in Sports Management from East Tennessee State University in 2010, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Higher Education at Virginia Tech. He and his wife Carrie reside in Ferrum with their son, John Michael.
