FERRUM, Va. -- Freshman
Daryl Hart came off the bench and sparked the Ferrum College men's basketball team to a 79-58 non-conference win over visiting Lancaster Bible College tonight in Swartz Gymnasium.
Hart was perfect from the floor, finishing with a game-high 18 points, also his career high. With almost eight minutes remaining in the first half, Hart hit a three-point basket from the right corner to break a 21-21 tie. He followed the trey with jumper to give Ferrum a 26-21 lead with 7:27 left before halftime.
Hart finished the game with 18 points on 7-7 shooting, including a 4-4 clip from behind the arc. The Panthers led 44-31 at halftime and never looked back, outscoring the Chargers 35-27 in the second half.
Derek Mitchell barely missed a double-double, registering 16 points and nine rebounds.
Nick English had 14 points and seven rebounds,
Jerrell Wade had 13 points, and
Keith Crump had eight assists to go with four points.
Billy Harrison led Lancaster Bible (2-5) with 14 points on 5-12 shooting. He was the only player in double figures for the Chargers. Ferrum out-rebounded LBC 39-27.
Ferrum (5-3) returns to action Thursday, Dec. 18, when it hosts Lynchburg College. The non-conference game will tip off at 5 p.m. at Swartz Gymnasium.
