LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Ferrum College cross country teams opened the 2008 season at the Generals Invitational, hosted Sept. 6 by Washington and Lee University. The Panther men finished 9th in a field off 11 teams, while the women did not place as a team due to having only four runners able to travel.
Washington and Lee won the men's race with a team score of 34. Roanoke College, which had the race's top two finishers was second at 62, followed closely by third-place Washington & Jefferson at 97.
Sophomore Joshua Horan paced the FC men with a time of 33.32 to placed 53rd among a field of 93 runners. Sophomore Joshua Oehmke was 63rd in a time of 34:22.

In the women's race, Washington and Lee won with a team score of 23, followed by Catholic University at 64. Roanoke was third at 69.

Tiffany Garnett led Ferrum with a 51st-place finish among 95 runners. She ran the 6K course in a time of 30:30. Sophomore
Michelle Ayers ran a 36:22 to finish 79th.
