GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Five Ferrum College runners competed this afternoon at the 2010 USA South Men's and Women's Cross Country Championship, help at Hagan-Stone Park.
Christopher Newport University won the men's race, which saw just two of the league's seven teams race a complete team. On the women's side, Shenandoah University toppled long-time USA South champion CNU for the title. Six of the league's 10 teams ran full teams.
For the Ferrum men,
Joshua Horan eclipsed the 8K course in a time of 32:26 to finish 29th among a field of 33 runners.
Calvin Gunter was 32nd with a time of 38:39.
In the women's race, the trio of
Geri Esposito (37:02),
Haley Runion (37:13) and
Courtney Mayo (37:34) finished 52nd-54th, respectively, among a field of 62 runners over the 6K course.
