2011 Ferrum Football Schedule Released

2011 Football Schedule

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College has announced its football schedule for the 2011 season.  The Panthers will be under the direction of first-year heach coach David Harper, an assistant with the Panther program the past 18 years.

Ferrum opens with four of its first five games on the road.  The Panthers travel to Emory & Henry College Sept. 3, are idle Sept. 10, then travel to Hampden-Sydney College Sept. 17.  The game with Hampden-Sydney will the first-ever football meeting between the two schools.

Ferrum will play its home-opener Sept. 24 against Bridgewater College, celebrating Homecoming and Hall of Fame Weekend.

Harper's squad will play seven straight USA South Athletic Conference games from there, starting with a pair of road games at Maryville College Oct. 1 and at North Carolina Wesleyan College Oct. 8.

On Oct. 15, the Panthers entertain Methodist University.  The College will celebrate Franklin County Appreciation Day, allowing free admission as a thank you for supporting the Ferrum athletics program.  Free Ferrum wrist bands will be distributed at the gate Oct. 15.

Ferrum hosts Greensboro College Oct. 22 before traveling to Shenandoah University Oct. 29 for its lone night game.  Christopher Newport University and Averett University visit Ferrum the last two weeks of the season, Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, respectively.  The Averett game will be Ferrum's Senior Day.
