Homecoming Football Program Sales to Benefit Ferrum Elementary School's PANTHER PACKS

FERRUM, Va. -- Head Coach David Harper and the Ferrum College football coaching staff will be supporting the PANTHER PACKS program by donating all proceeds from College's official game program this Saturday.  Ferrum will be facing North Carolina Wesleyan College Saturday, Oct. 13, during Homecoming and Alumni Sports Hall of Fame Weekend.  Game programs cost $3.00, with all sales going to help the Ferrum Elementary School program.

PANTHER PACKS is designed to provide non-perishable food items for Ferrum Elementary School children to take home in a backpack to be eaten during the weekend.  Items in the backpack supply nutritious food to children who may be at-risk of inadequate meals during the weekend.  Children currently receiving free or reduced-price meals through the Federal School Lunch Program are eligible to participate.  Fans that purchase a home game program will help support this effort.

Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. at W.B. Adams Stadium.  Prior to the game, the College will honor former baseball standout Paul Jaglowski on his Academic All-America Award last year.  USA South Athletic Conference Commissioner Rita Wiggs will be on hand as well to present Jaglowski with the 2012 Don Scalf Award, recognizing him as the league's top male student-athlete for the 2011-12 school year.

At halftime, the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame's Class of 2012 will be introduced.  Being inducted are former football players Matt Cross and Kevin Sherman, former men's basketball player Rahsul Burney, and former softball and volleyball standout Julie Shifflett Thomas.  We'll also be inducting Dr. Frank McCue, a longtime orthopedic surgeon at the University of Virginia who traveled with Ferrum's football team for many years.
