FERRUM, Va. --
Tim Reynolds had 356 yards total offense to help Ferrum College get past USA South newcomer LaGrange College 48-24 this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium. In the process, the sophomore quarterback set the new school record for single-season passing yards.
Reynolds was 13-21 passing today for 264 yards and three touchdowns, and added 11 rushes for 92 yards and another score. He is now 101-165 passing for 1540 yards this season and 12 touchdowns with five interceptions. The record was previously held by two-time USA South Offensive Player of the Year
Marcus Mayo, who had 1381 yards last season.
Makya Jackson had five catches for 144 yards today along with a pair of TDs for the Panthers.
Derrick West made three catches for 67 yards and a score.
Scott Puschell had field goals of 22 and 36 yards, and was a perfect 6-6 in extra point attempts.
Shawn Winfrey made eight tackles for the Panthers, including four solo.
Lynwood Pickett had a rare interception for a defensive lineman, returning it 31 yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter.
Kent Gibson rushed 21 yards for 153 yards and a score for LaGrange (3-6, 3-3 USA South). Ed Russ was 9-28 passing for 105 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Andre Carter had 10 tackles, including seven solo stops.
Ferrum (7-2, 5-1 USA South) returns to action Saturday, Nov. 10, at home against Maryville College. The USA South game gets underway at 1 p.m. at W.B. Adams Stadium. Prior to kickoff, the team will honor 14 graduating seniors with a Senior Day '12 ceremony.
