DANVILLE, Va. -- Sam Muir had a pair of goals to help lift Averett University to a 3-2 USA South Athletic Conference men's soccer win over Ferrum College tonight at Daly Field. Muir scored his first goal at 2:38, then notched his second at 23:47 to spot the Courgars a 2-0 lead.

Keith Ricks scored the first of two goals at 34:54 to trim the lead to 2-1 at halftime. Nathan Brown scored the eventual game-winner for the Cougars (8-4-1, 2-3-1 USA South) in the 74th minute of play. Ricks scored his second goal for Ferrum at 87:33.
Joe Martin played all 90 minutes in net for the Panthers (4-9-2, 2-4-1 USA South), making three saves. Martin Erenstedt played 90 minutes in net for Averett with six stops. Ferrum plays next on Sunday, Oct. 19, in a USA South doubleheader at Greensboro College. The men begin at 1:00 p.m., with the women to follow at 3:00 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina.
