ObituaryFERRUM, Va. -- Ferum College alumnus Gary Edwards died May 30 at age 67. Edwards attended Ferrum Junior College from 1973 through 1975, playing football two seasons for the Panthers. Edwards played linebacker for legendary Head Coach Hank Norton, helping the Panthers win the 1974 NJCAA national championship, the third of four titles Ferrum would win under Norton.
In the fall of 2013, Edwards and members of his 1974 team were inducted into Ferrum's Alumni Sports Hall of Fame. Also iunducted were Ferrum's 1965, 1968 and 1977 NJCAA national championship football teams.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, June 7, from 2-5 p.m. at the Selba Restaurant, 2416 W Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23220.
